Wahluke School District would like to announce that there will be no spectators at any of our home athletic events for the first three to five weeks. During that time we will reassess with guidance from Grant County Health Department and Superintendent on when we are allowed to have fans back in our venues to support of student-athletes and coaches. The Wahluke School District Board of Directors will be conducting Final Candidate Interviews with the three finalist candidates for the open Superintendent position on Tuesday, February 16, Wednesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 18. All Pre-K through 12 grade on-campus classes for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16th, have been cancelled. Out of the abundance of caution, the administration has elected to transition into the virtual/distance learning model for the day. The weather services agree the snow is done for the next few days, but not knowing how soon the county will clear the roads, and to allow our families the best opportunity to make arrangements, we have made this decision. Please have your student(s) check their LMS (Learning Management Solution – Google Classroom or Seesaw) for further direction and instruction from their teacher(s). We saw a lot of happy and excited students and staff at WHS as it has been nearly a year since they have been on campus. THANK YOU ALL for continuing to follow the COVID-19 school and district protocols as well as your patience as all WSD schools have transitioned into Hybrid Learning. Valentine's Day During Covid : As Valentine's Day is soon approaching, WSD wanted to let staff and parents know that we will not be allowing Valentine's Day gifts or treats to be delivered at school due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. Friendly reminder about our COVID-19 District Information Portal, which can be found on our website. The COVID Dashboard is updated weekly. We value the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. As you may be aware, many regions worldwide are experiencing expanding outbreaks of COVID-19, and many confirmed cases have been identified in the State of Washington. The district and our skilled nursing staff take our students' and staff's health very seriously and work with the Grant County Health District (GCHD) as positive Coronavirus cases appear in our district. As the school year unfolds, we want to remind you all that. WSD will continue to share information with staff, parents, and our community (facts/resources are on our district website). WSD will continue to follow the Grant County Health District (GHD) and CDC guidelines. The process for parent/guardian and employee notification is as follows: In coordination with the Grant County Health, when the district is notified of positive cases or possible exposures, we begin contact tracing within our buildings. The district may contacta any staff member, parent, or community member identified as possibly being exposed. Once facts are determined, the district will guide quarantining and a possible return to work/school date. The district will then contact the health department to confirm the guidelines provided to the staff/parent. Once the district has confirmation from the health department, all staff members are notified that there was a positive case within their particular building. If there is a positive case within a classroom, the district will notify the students' parents in that specific room. The district is bound by FERPA, HIPAA, and ADA regulations regarding the release of specific health information.
